Dr Greg Pogue, Deputy Director of the IC² Institute at the University of Texas, USA, will present at Flinders University this week.

Flinders Partners is hosting a visit by American entrepreneurial expert Dr Greg Pogue, Deputy Director of the IC² Institute at the University of Texas.

Margaret Ledwith, Innovations Partnerships Director at Flinders Partners, says Dr Pogue’s series of ‘think tank’ presentations is a chance for South Australian industry and academic leaders to learn from his global expertise in the areas of university-industry collaboration and research commercialisation.

“Dr Pogue is keen to share with us his extensive knowledge in these highly specialised fields,” Ms Ledwith says.

“As an academic and practitioner at the IC² Institute, Dr Pogue leads research, instructional and implementation programs on technology commercialisation, early venture creation and entrepreneurship.

“This interdisciplinary approach works to advance the theory and practice of entrepreneurial wealth creation and economic development.”

The role of research within universities is a changing landscape; research needs to align closely with industry, she says.

The IC² Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit of the University of Texas, USA and acts as a catalyst for innovation and economic development by fostering active collaboration across university, government and private sectors.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Flinders Partners and Flinders University to work with a renowned academic from an internationally respected organization,” says Ms Ledwith.

“Dr Pogue will provide advice and case studies on how this is being successfully achieved by universities overseas and how thought leaders are advancing in this field.

“We are looking forward to receiving his guidance on technology commercialisation pedagogies and hope this will inspire our staff to broaden their skill-set and continue contributing to South Australia’s knowledge base.

Flinders University staff are invited to hear Dr Pogue discuss best practice in university and industry engagement, research commercialisation and how these can be leveraged to enhance research impact and support the University’s strategic plan.
