Flinders thanks Chancellor for 13 years service

Flinders Universty’s Chancellor, Mr. Stephen Gerlach AM, has advised Council of his intention to retire towards the end of 2023.

A lawyer and prominent businessman, Mr Gerlach succeeded Sir Eric Neal to become Flinders University’s 6th Chancellor in 2010.

“After 13 fruitful years in the chair, the time is right for me to hand over to another, and enjoy more time with family, friends and travel,” Mr Gerlach said.

Flinders University President and Vice Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling thanked Mr Gerlach for his committed service.

“Stephen has been an extraordinary Chancellor. A man with a wealth of commercial experience, tremendous strategic vision, and a faultless work ethic. His commitment to the future of Flinders has been unwavering and the journey we have been on has transformed the University under his Chancellorship”.

“Stephen’s consideration in advising us of his intentions will enable us to both celebrate his achievements and begin the search for a fitting successor,” Professor Stirling said.

Further details about arrangements to honour the Chancellor’s distinguished service will become available later in the year.
