COVID-19 case

A message from Vice-Chancellor Stirling.

This afternoon I have been advised of the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the University.

A third-year student tested positive for COVID-19, but the student has not been on campus for 8 days and has not been in direct contact with any staff or other students during that time.

The student’s partner, who had recently returned from overseas, was confirmed to have COVID-19, at which point the student self-isolated in line with Department of Health advice.

In line with Department of Health practice, any close contacts of the student will be identified and contacted by the Department; we understand that they are not seeking to contact any Flinders University staff or students and are advised that no further action is required by the University.

The student has described experiencing mild symptoms and we wish them well in their recovery.

There are no other confirmed cases at Flinders University.

Flinders University continues to closely monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and we are aligning our actions with advice from the Australian Government. Please check our staff and student websites for regular updates.

Take care and look after each other.

Colin
