Warm up at Springfest 2019

Flinders SpringFest is back at Bedford Park on Saturday 19 October, 2019 and kicks off from 10am so don’t miss out on a bunch of free interactive activities and prizes!

Flinders has partnered with Nature Play SA to host a colourful carnival of free live performances, interactive animal experiences, cubby house construction and so much more at the annual Springfest on 19 October 2019, promising fun for the whole family!

What better way to welcome spring than by learning about native wildlife from the team at Animal Anonymous who are bringing along pythons, dragons, goannas and other interesting friends, or if you prefer selfies, outdo social influencers and take a thermal snap of your body temperature.

Liz Calahan from Bey Dance will be teaching how to dance classes after working with the Make A Wish Foundation to help children with serious illnesses achieve their dreams.

If all that’s not enough to keep the kids on their toes, multi award winning Cabaret Artist, Writer, and Presenter Amelia Ryan will ensure the kids and parents are entertained throughout the day.

Other activities at Springfest 2019 include Bortier Okoe and his team of African soul drummers, a kids market, interactive animal shows and classes on making your own ice cream (that should be the only reason you need to attend!)

Plus, find our more about our new partners Adelaide United Football Club and meet some of their star Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League players.

Callista Thillou, Executive Director of Communication and Engagement, says Flinders continues to open its doors at the scenic Bedford Park Campus for a great day out for all staff, students and families across the South Australian community.

“Ever wondered how palaeontologists can identify an animal just from its bones or what your teeth say about you? SpringFest is an opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at Flinders academic and research programs, offering a glimpse of how our scientists are working to further knowledge and our understanding of the world. It might inspire parents to pursue new passions, and it is sure to instil a love of learning in kids, by making it fun!” Ms Thillou says.

“Flinders is a friendly, community spirited campus for everyone, whatever their age. So, come and meet our people for an amazing day out where you can see the South Australian Museum collection of ancient fossils, make ice cream with liquid nitrogen or simply enjoy a performance on stage. SpringFest offers a free family day out with events for everyone.”
