Flinders University’s Emeritus Professor Vincent Megaw has been elected an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in recognition of his outstanding scholarship.
Professor Megaw, who is already a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, is a leading scholar in the field of Celtic art and archaeology, and through his numerous publications and extensive research on sites which extend across Europe from Ireland to the Balkans, has made a major contribution to the understanding of the culture and history of the Celts.
Professor Megaw joins a very select group, as the Scottish body, which was founded in 1780, limits the number of its Honorary Fellows to 25. Heading the current list is HRH The Duke of Rothesey, the title taken in Scotland by Prince Charles, who studied archaeology at Cambridge.
