Flinders welcomes result of court case

campus-pic-end-of-court-case-040311Flinders University welcomes the result of today’s court action which saw a former employee plead ‘guilty’ in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to a charge in relation to fraudulent misappropriation of monies from Flinders University, a spokesperson for the University said today.

“Successful recovery actions have returned to the University in excess of $20 million of the net $24 million misappropriated.  Current and anticipated recovery actions, plus insurance, will ensure that the final shortfall of funds is likely to be less than $1 million – a figure that represents less than one third of one percent of the University’s annual expenditures.

“This incident has not, and will not, have any impact on the delivery of Flinders’ programs.”
