Professor Gary Davis has been appointed Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellors of Flinders University and Charles Darwin University, effective Monday 5 September 2011.
Dean of Flinders Law School from 2001-2007, Professor Davis has held a number of executive roles at Charles Darwin University since 2009, including Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Education, Business and Arts and, most recently, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic.
Flinders Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Barber said that, given the strong connections with the two universities, he and Charles Darwin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Glover have decided to appoint Professor Davis to this role “to lead the development of enhanced collaboration between our universities”.
“The objective is to build upon the success of the collaboration in the delivery of the Northern Territory Medical Program and to extend collaboration into other fields of endeavour where opportunities exist for substantial mutual advantage,” Professor Barber said.
“In addition, Professor Davis will take on a managerial role in the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Law, as Deputy Executive Dean,” he said.
“I am sure all will welcome Gary back and join him in developing this exciting activity over the next 18 months.”
