Governor-General visits Flinders NT

Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove meets Flinders NT Manager Monica Barolits-McCabe.

Students from Flinders University’s Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP) have showcased the University’s new teaching facility at the Katherine District Hospital to Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Crosgrove.

As part of the June 20 visit, third year NTMP student Felix Ho and rural placement student Gary Sit from the University of Melbourne represented Flinders in the Northern Territory by escorting His Excellency through the facility, accompanied by Flinders NT Manager Monica Barolits-McCabe.

The students demonstrated a range of new simulation equipment at the Katherine facility and highlighted the advantages of studying in a rural setting.

The NTMP is part of the Flinders NT academic unit of Flinders University’s School of Medicine. The program provides training to Flinders and James Cook University medical students, as well as coordinates placement opportunities and support for allied health and interstate medical students.
