South Australia’s three leading universities are committing an additional $1.368 million to the Destination Adelaide Plan alongside an investment by South Australian Government.

In a joint announcement in Kuala Lumpur, the Chair of the South Australian Vice-Chancellors’  Committee – Flinders University’s Professor Colin Stirling   –  says the four-year funding initiative will boost the marketing power of Study Adelaide.

Professor Stirling says this funding is in addition to the already substantial investment that the universities make each year towards growing South Australia’s international education.

“More international students than ever before are recognising the benefits that Adelaide and South Australia have to offer as an education destination,” he says.

“Each year, South Australia welcomes international students from more than 125 countries, and we want to ensure that potential students everywhere are aware of the highly regarded study opportunities available to them.

“We offer world-class degrees in high quality education facilities in a modern, accessible, affordable and safe location.

“The Destination Adelaide Plan will be an important addition to the resources that Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia have invested over many years to showcase our strengths and expand our State’s share of the international education market.

“Destination Adelaide provides a great opportunity for the higher education sector to work in partnership with the State Government to maximise the potential of our international student sector.

“This goes well beyond the important work of marketing Adelaide as a great destination, to concurrently create lasting business, economic and cultural bonds that will deliver long term dividends to South Australia.

“Our aim as a state is to ensure we can offer the courses international students want to study and give them the rich learning and professional development opportunities they need.
